UPDATE: Westbound I-70 reopens following vehicle recovery

7:38 p.m.: Westbound Interstate 70 reopened.
6:25 p.m.: Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed near EagleVail for a vehicle recovery, according to an Eagle County Alert.
5:30 p.m.: Interstate 70 eastbound opened around 5:22 p.m. according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Traffic was being held at Exit 180 at East Vail since 3 p.m. for a safety closure.

The closure begins in East Vail at mile marker 180.

The shutdown is being deemed a safety closure, as snow began to fall in Colorado on Thursday afternoon, causing poor visibility on the notoriously treacherous mountain pass.
