The Vail Valley music scene just got a little edgier with the formation of a new band called Quadrasonic, which plays a variety of alternative rock, grunge and ’70s punk.

“There are a lot of bands here that play ’70s classic rock and ’60s, ’70s and ’80s covers and you can certainly go to any bar or restaurant here and find a solo performer singing a lot of the sing-along songs,” said Josh Lautenberg, the drummer for the band whose day job is part owner and realtor at Engel and Völkers real estate company. “We decided to get into the deeper cuts and the songs that people know but haven’t heard in a while.”

The idea to start Quadrasonic came from Mark Roebke, a semi-retired tech entrepreneur who plays guitar with Lautenberg in another local band called

“Mark came to me several months ago and said he really wanted to put a band together, but a different genre, more grunge and alternative and he also wanted a female lead singer, someone that could sing songs by Veruca Salt, The Breeders, Alanis Morissette, Blondie and Pat Benatar,” Lautenberg said. “I immediately called Michelle Cohn Levy. Michelle is a very talented singer, she’s a busy mom of three, she’s an advocate in the court system in Eagle County, she is the cantor at B’nai Vail, and she is also a good marketer and is helping us with social media and getting us gigs.”

Rounding out the foursome is bassist Adam Peltier.

“I was scrolling through the Vail Valley Musician’s Facebook page and saw a post that said, ‘Bass player just moved to the valley looking for a band to play with.’ I messaged him, and within 20 minutes, he got back to me. Next thing I knew, we had a band, and that’s how Quadrasonic was formed,” Lautenberg said. Peltier’s day job is working as a contractor in the valley.

Quadrasonic hosted a concert at Shakedown Bar in December which was also a video filming party. They wanted to create photography and video of the band so they could promote Quadrasonic for future gigs.

Quadrasonic plays “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet at a concert at Shakedown Bar on Dec. 11.

“What we’re finding is that there really aren’t bands in Eagle County or in the state that play this kind of music and there’s this nostalgia that people feel when they remember some of these great songs that just don’t get played live anymore,” Lautenberg said. “Most of these bands aren’t together anymore or if they’re together, they’re not touring. When we curated our set list, we were really looking for the songs that represented sort of the alternative genre, but also things that people would say, ‘Wow, I cannot believe you guys play these songs.'”

Come hear this sound for yourself when Quadrasonic plays this Saturday at Route 6 Café in EagleVail starting at 9 p.m. Take a look at some of the videos they have put together to hear the diversity of Cohn Levy’s voice and how hard this band rocks. From Lady Gaga, Paramore and Garbage to even bands with male lead singers like Nirvana or Jet, you will feel the energy and want to rock along.

“There’s no cover charge at our show on Saturday, so come early and have some dinner and drinks and then join us and sing along and dance,” Lautenberg said. “We feel like it’s going to be an explosive show, and people are going to want to be in the front row because there’s going to be so much happening.” To learn more about the band, watch videos and follow them on social media go to .
