Alicia Silverstone to be honored at 20th annual Vail Film Festival

Vail Film Festival returns for an in-person event Dec. 7-10

Alicia Silverstone will be receiving the Excellence in Acting award at the Vail Film Festival.

The Vail Film Festival has announced that it will honor Alicia Silverstone with the 2023 Excellence in Acting award, and Ava Acres with the 2023 Rising Star award. Past Vail Film Festival award recipients include Julie Delpy, Kevin Smith, Michelle Monaghan, Christina Ricci, Zach Braff, Olivia Wilde, Adrian Grenier, Kate Bosworth, Jesse Eisenberg, Tim Daly, among others.

The 20th annual Vail Film Festival will take place December 7-10 in Vail, CO. The festival will screen over 70 films, including Haroula Rose’s ‘All Happy Families’ starring Josh Radnor, as the Opening Night Film, and Chelsea Bo’s ‘No Right Way’ starring Ava Acres, as the Closing Night Film, and the World Premiere of ‘Another Happy Day’, directed by Nora Fiffer, starring Lauren Lapkus. 

2023 Vail Film Festival Excellence in Acting award recipient Alicia Silverstone made her film debut in the thriller “The Crush”, earning the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, and gained further prominence as a teen idol when she appeared in the music videos for Aerosmith’s songs “Cryin’, “Amazing” and “Crazy”. She went on to star as Cher Horowitz in the blockbuster comedy film “Clueless” opposite Paul Rudd, and as Batgirl in “Batman & Robin”, with George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell. She can currently be seen in Netflix’s “Reptile” with Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake. 



2023 Vail Film Festival Rising Star award recipient Ava Acres began acting at the age of three, and has since accumulated over 80 film and television credits.  Ava has worked with some of the industry’s top talent including George Miller, Demi Moore, Elisabeth Moss, Michael Showalter, and Anna Paquin.  Acres’ television appearances include roles on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon A Time, American Horror Story, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Also an avid writer, Ava is currently writing and developing a comedy series with her sister, inspired by their real-life experiences growing up in L.A.
